Feeling Fatigued?

Your thyroid plays an important role in your health! January is Thyroid Awareness Month.

The little thyroid gland sits at the base of your neck, around your windpipe.

When most people think of thyroid health, they probably do not think about nutrition. There are many things that can affect the thyroid. Toxins from the environment can affect this, such as pesticides and heavy metals like mercury. Stress can be a huge factor as well. Who knew!? We know that being under stress can be detrimental to our overall health but altering our hormones??? Yes--it seriously can. Chronic inflammation resulting from what we eat can also play a major role. Top contenders for food that can cause issues for people include gluten, wheat, dairy and soy. Processed, packaged foods can contain ingredients that harm your body’s ecosystem. It’s worth checking out if you suffer from fatigue or other thyroid issues. You should also make sure you are getting the right nutrients as a vitamin deficiency can also cause problems. Hormone regulation is a complicated thing--yet you can start with some simple diet and lifestyle changes to start getting things back to normal.
